TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In honor of National News Engagement Day, The University of Alabama’s College of Communication and Information Sciences hosted news trivia night. Almost 200 students attended the series of game shows hosted by Dr. Chris Roberts in Graves Hall. Freshman journalism major T.J. Parks said, “Get ready. When Dr. Roberts gives a lecture, it’s going to be a show.”

Roberts entertained the crowd through news-related renditions of Family Feud, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and Jeopardy. With each new game, Roberts revealed another of his news themed shirts. He started the night with maybe seven shirts on and peeled them off one layer at a time. (more…)

Former Tide Baseball Standouts Begin Postseason Play

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Former Tide players Alex Avila (2006-08) of the Detroit Tigers and Tommy Hunter (2006-07) of the Baltimore Orioles kicked off postseason play on Thursday night in Baltimore facing off in the American League Division Series.

In three years at the Capstone, Avila played 178 games and held a career .303 batting average. Hunter played two seasons in an Alabama uniform, garnering a Freshman All-SEC selection and playing for Team USA in 2006.  (more…)
